Weekly Update, July 26th, 2024

Hi church,

Our church would like to launch a Small Group ministry this September. These groups are casual discussion groups related to a given topic of study (such as marriage, finances, parenting, apologetics, books of the Bible, etc). The goal is for each person to grow deeper in their faith and develop stronger relationships where you can be loved, challenged, and motivated for life in Christ. A typical group will meet each week in a person's home for 6-8 weeks. Before we launch the groups, we need your input! If you are interested, please fill out this survey Small Group Survey.

Weems Creek Kids is GROWING!

We are opening new classrooms to accommodate our growing numbers, and we need your help! Specifically, we are looking for the following:

· one assistant Sunday School teacher in the 3-5th grade class

· two volunteers to serve weekly in the new infant class during the Sunday School hour

· more volunteers to serve on a rotating schedule (once or twice a month) in childcare for the worship hour

· two volunteers to serve twice a month in Kids Worship (during the sermon)

· two volunteers to serve every Wednesday night in the Infants & Toddlers class.

All positions will be for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are feeling lead to fulfill any of these roles, please email Melissa Gardner at melissa@weemscreek.com.

Orioles Faith Night

The church will be purchasing group tickets for the Orioles Faith Night on Aug. 13. The game begins at 6:35pm and will be against the Washington Nationals. After the game, there will be faith-based music and players will share their testimonies. Tickets are $16 per person, and you must sign up by this Sunday, July 28 at the Connect Center or at this link: Orioles Faith Night

Creativity Workshop – Cooking with Jenny

All ladies (6th grade and up), join us for “Cooking with Jenny,” a fun and FREE cooking class with Jenny Francis, a former professional caterer and GREAT cook! On Tuesday, August 6, from 6:30-8pm. Jenny will lead us in preparing Mini Boston Eclairs, homemade Pop Tarts, and Greek Bruschetta. Bring your apron and a friend! No prior cooking experience required. Wednesday Night Activities Resume Sept. 11

We are looking forward to Wednesday night activities resuming on Sept. 11! Awana and Adult Bible Studies will meet from 6:30-8pm. The Women’s Bible study will also meet Tuesday (10-11:30am) and Saturday mornings (9:30-11am) beginning that week for those who are unable to attend on Wednesdays.

Youth Summer Games

The Olympics may be happening in France, but the Youth Summer Games are taking place right here at Weems Creek! Join us for a week of fun games and Bible study. The youth will meet every evening Aug. 11-14 from 6:30-8:30pm. The week will conclude with a lock-in on Wednesday evening. Pickup will be Thursday morning at 6:30am.
