Weekly Update, August 2nd, 2024

Hi church,

We have a lot going on at Weems Creek!

Weems Creek Kids is GROWING!

We are opening new classrooms to accommodate our growing numbers, and we need your help! Specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • one assistant Sunday School teacher in the 3-5th grade class
  • two volunteers to serve weekly in the new infant class during the Sunday School hour
  • more volunteers to serve on a rotating schedule (once or twice a month) in childcare for the worship hour
  • two volunteers to serve twice a month in Kids Worship (during the sermon)
  • two volunteers to serve every Wednesday night in the Toddlers class.

All positions will be for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are feeling lead to fulfill any of these roles, please email Melissa Gardner at melissa@weemscreek.com.

SonShiners (55+) – Baysox Game

The SonShiners will be going to the Bowie Baysox game versus the Erie Seawolves on Aug. 22. The game is at 6:35pm. If you are interested in going, you must sign up and pay by next Sunday, Aug. 11. Tickets are $13 (60 ) and $15 (under 60 years old). Ticket money should be placed in the offering, clearly marked “Baysox.” Please sign up at the Connect Center. If you would like to ride the minibus, it will leave the church at 5:15pm.

Small Group Ministry

If you are interested in participating in a small group but haven’t filled out a survey yet, you can use this link Small Group Survey or pick up a survey at the Connect Center. These groups are casual discussion groups related to a given topic of study (such as marriage, finances, parenting, apologetics, books of the Bible, etc). The goal is for each person to grow deeper in their faith and develop stronger relationships where you can be loved, challenged, and motivated for life in Christ. A typical group will meet each week in a person's home for 6-8 weeks.

Creativity Workshop – Cooking with Jenny (Aug. 6, 6:30pm)

This class is full, but you can still signup for the waitlist at the Connect Center or at this link: Cooking with Jenny. If you are signed up and are unable to attend, please contact the church office (410-266-5527 or office@weemscreek.com) and let us know so that others may attend.

Wednesday Night Activities resume Sept. 11

We are looking forward to Wednesday night activities resuming on Sept. 11! Awana and Adult Bible Studies will meet from 6:30-8pm. The Women’s Bible study will also meet Tuesday mornings (beginning 9/10) and Saturday mornings (beginning 9/14) for those who are unable to attend on Wednesdays.
