Weekly Update, February 16th, 2024
Hi church,
As I mentioned last Sunday, I encourage you to plug into one of the Wednesday night Bible studies at 6:30pm. It is a great opportunity to learn God's word and grow in fellowship! Here is our current lineup of classes:
Women: Hebrews - led by Sarina Lynham in room 111
Men: 1 Thessalonians - led by Clarence Klakring in room 106
Mixed Adults: Miracles (3 weeks starting February 21) - led by Pastor Bryan in room 102
The class on miracles will discuss what is a miracle, objections to miracles, their purposes, and then miracles today that will encourage your faith.
Toronto Mission Trip
Our church is looking to go on a week-long mission trip to Toronto, Canada this summer. Participants must be 18 years or older. We will have a brief meeting after church this Sunday in the multipurpose for those interested in learning more. Discovering Weems Creek
You are invited to join us for a New Members class on Sunday, Feb. 25th at 12:15pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the church – its beliefs, vision, and ministries – as well as interact with the church leadership and other prospective members. This is an informational meeting; there is no commitment to membership. Lunch and childcare will be provided. Please sign up at the Connect Center.
Church-wide Bowling Fellowship
Join us for a great time of bowling and fellowship on Saturday, March 2 from 1-3pm at the Severna Park Lanes. This is a free event which includes shoes, 2 hours of bowling, pizza and soda. There is a max limit of 60 people, so registration is required. Please only sign up if you are sure you can attend. We will also have a wait list. Family Devotions
Once again, we will be offering a free devotion book to our families with children through 5th grade for the season on Lent. The Way to the Savior by Jeff & Abbey Land includes 40 days of family devotions to reflect on Christ and the true reason for Easter. Each family may pick up their copy at the Child Check-in desk beginning this Sunday.
Women’s Ministry – Games and Goodies
All women, ages 6th grade on up, are invited to Games and Goodies, a Weems Creek women's fellowship event. Join us on Saturday, February 24, 2-4pm in the multipurpose room. Come enjoy fun games and tasty game-day goodies. Invite your family and friends and bring your game face! Please sign up at the Connect Center.
Business Meeting
There will be a business meeting on Feb. 21 at 6pm in the worship center. Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) has requested to use our facilities. We will hear the proposal and vote on their request. We’ll also vote in new members, review financial reports and hear ministry updates.
Men’s Retreat
The Weems Creek men and high school boys are invited to join us for the annual Men’s Retreat at Camp Wabanna on March 8-9. Pastor Keith Grant will be presenting a seminar on A Praying Life. We will learn step-by-step how to develop a private life of prayer in fellowship with our heavenly Father. It will address such practical issues as how to stay focused, how to pray longer than 5 minutes, how to talk like a child to your Father in heaven, prayer as relationship, prayer as conversation, and problems in prayer.
