Weekly Update, June 2nd 2023
Hi church,
Psalm 62 begins, "For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken." The Lord is our rock and salvation--nothing else. He is the ultimate foundation for our lives. Join us this Sunday as we declare his praise and grow in our knowledge of him. This Sunday we will recognize our graduates and after service we have our Town Hall meeting about a new Associate Pastor.
Associate Pastor Search
Our church has carved out this role in the budget for several years. Now, with the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, we formed a Search Team that will be comprised of the Personnel Committee and four additional church members who were approved at our May business meeting. The job description for this position is available at the Connect Center. We will share more information at the Town Hall meeting on Sunday. This is an important time in our church life, and I ask for your prayers as we seek the Lord.
Serve Teams
Service is an important part of our walk with the Lord. Our desire is that every member and regular attender participate on at least one Serve Team. By doing so, each person can use their time and spiritual gifting to strengthen the church, advance the kingdom of God, and bring glory to Him. More information about Serve Teams is available at the Connect Center.
VBS Registration
VBS registration is open! Please register your child(ren) today as there are limited spots available. VBS is July 23-27 from 6-8:30 p.m. Classes are open to children who have finished Pre-K 4 through 5th grade. If you are a VBS worker and have a child younger than Pre-K 4, please register them as well. The theme this year is Twists & Turns. Spin the spinner, beat the clock, skip ahead, level up, and play to win! You’ll need to bring your A-game for this VBS. Twists & Turns is a fantastical celebration of games of all kinds. From classic tabletop games to video games and more, kids will play their way through VBS while learning that Jesus guides them through all the twists and turns of their lives. They’ll find that even when they mess up it’s never “game over.”
Soda Cartons for VBS
Please save your empty 12-pack soda cartons. We are collecting them to create a giant Jenga display for VBS. Empty cartons can be placed in the tote in the atrium coat closet.
Knitting & Crafting
June 13 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited – men, women, youth, children! Bring your knitting or latest craft project. It’s a great time of fellowship! Knitting instructions and materials are available for anyone wanting to learn how to knit. This group meets in person on the second Tuesday every month in room 111.
See you Sunday!
