Weekly Update, May 26th 2023

Hi church,

Hope you are enjoying the Spring. I want to give an update about the search for an Associate Pastor. Our church has carved out this role in the budget for several years. Now, with the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, we formed a Search Team that will be comprised of the Personnel Committee and four additional church members who were approved at our May business meeting. This is an important time in our church life and I ask for your prayers as we seek the Lord. To God be the glory!

Pastor Ordination

I want to mention the ordination of Alex Streitmater, our Student Pastor, this Sunday during the service. Alex was licensed for ministry over 4 years ago and I think it is time for him to be ordained. In my time here, Alex has displayed a good theological mind, communicates well across generations, demonstrates integrity, leads meetings well, cares for people, and is a solid preacher. I have truly enjoyed working with him and look forward to his continued growth and impact here. Alex is pursuing further education in theological studies. He and his wife are a blessing to our church! I hope you'll be part of this occasion.

VBS Registration

VBS registration is open! Please register your child(ren) today as there are limited spots available. VBS is July 23-27 from 6-8:30 p.m. Classes are open to children who have finished Pre-K 4 through 5th grade. If you are a VBS worker and have a child younger than Pre-K 4, please register them as well. The theme this year is Twists & Turns. Spin the spinner, beat the clock, skip ahead, level up, and play to win! You’ll need to bring your A-game for this VBS. Twists & Turns is a fantastical celebration of games of all kinds. From classic tabletop games to video games and more, kids will play their way through VBS while learning that Jesus guides them through all the twists and turns of their lives. They’ll find that even when they mess up it’s never “game over.”

Soda Cartons for VBS

Please save your empty 12-pack soda cartons. We are collecting them to create a giant Jenga display for VBS. Empty cartons can be placed in the tote in the atrium coat closet.

Graduate Recognition

On Sunday, June 4th, we will recognize our high school and college graduates. Please send your photos and information to Tracey at office@weemscreek.com.

See you Sunday!
