Weekly Update, March 22nd, 2024

Hi church,

Every year our church participates in the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Our goal this year is $16,000. Please consider how you might give toward this offering that makes an eternal impact. We will collect this offering through the month of March. Here is some information about the offering from our denomination's website:

The offering was started in 1895 by Woman’s Missionary Union® (WMU) to benefit the work of the Home Mission Board (now North American Mission Board). In 1934, it was named in honor of Annie Armstrong, a bold missions advocate and WMU’s first national executive leader. Today, more than $2 billion has been donated by Southern Baptist churches and individuals.

Your prayers and gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® provide support for thousands of missionaries. These men and women are planting new churches in unreached communities and meeting needs through compassion ministries. Every day, lives are being impacted and transformed.

Toronto, Canada Mission Trip

Our church is sending a team to Toronto, Canada this summer (July 20-26). We still have openings for the trip to an area where the gospel is desperately needed! If you are interested in learning more about the trip, please attend a meeting after church this Sunday in the multipurpose room.

Women’s Retreat

Ladies, join us! Our Women’s Ministry annual retreat will be at Camp Wabanna, in Edgewater, Friday evening, May 3rd to Saturday afternoon, May 4th. Our theme this year is, “How Do You Spell Joy? ABIDE in Christ.” Experience good food, fun, fellowship, and relaxation (there will be no dishes to wash or laundry to fold!). Sign up in the Church Center app, on the website (www.weemscreek.com/women) or at the Connect Center. Cost is $60 per attendant. You can pay online (www.weemscreek.com/give) or through the offering, just be sure to indicate it is for the retreat. All ladies in high school and older are invited!

Day of Fasting and Prayer

On Good Friday, we reflect deeply on the significance of Christ’s death for our salvation. As we do, we want to humble ourselves before the Lord for our sins and seek personal renewal. Also, we want to intercede fervently for various requests in our church life. If you are able, please join us on Good Friday as we fast and pray for our church and our community. We will meet in the multipurpose room at 5pm.

The Good Friday service will begin at 6:30pm in the worship center.

There will be no Adult Bible studies or Awana this coming week.

New Bible Studies begin the first week of April.

The women will be working through the study Ruth: Loss, Love & Legacy by Kelly Minter. In this 7-week session, we’ll examine Ruth’s journey of unbearable loss, redeeming love, and divine legacy. See how God proves Himself faithful as the One who rescues, revives, and restores. You can view a video promo at this link: Ruth: Loss, Love & Legacy. This class will be offered on three different days – Tuesdays (10-11:30am), Wednesdays (6:30-8pm) and Saturday (9:30-11am). All classes start the first week of April. Please sign up in the Church Center App or at the Connect Center.

The men will be studying 1 Timothy on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm in room 106.

The mixed adult class on will be studying James on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm in room 102.
