Weekly Update, November 8th, 2024
Hi church,
This Sunday we continue our series in the Gospel of John. We pick up with John 4 and the famous passage with Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. The passage is incredibly fascinating and also teaches us powerful truths about our spiritual thirst for God and the importance of sharing with others about this living water. Please make sure to read about the various events and ministries happening right now.
Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week
Weems Creek Church is a national drop-off site for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. We will be collecting from Nov. 18-24. There are several volunteer positions available for each time slot:
· Greeters (cheerful greeting, invite donor to learn more, offer to pray with them for the child that will receive the shoebox, sincere “Thank you”)
· Unloaders/Documenters (unload shoeboxes, count and document boxes received)
· Cartonizers (load shoeboxes into cartons and seal)
· Hospitality (bring snacks, drinks, crafts, simple games to offer donors that come inside).
How can you help? There are morning and evening time slots available.
Weems Creek Apparel
We are offering newly branded shirts, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, and jackets for purchase! Our hope is for these shirts to be used at ministry and outreach events and to represent our church in the community. They would also make great Christmas gifts! Apparel must be purchased through this link: https://stores.inksoft.com/_WCC/shop/home and must be ordered by Sunday, 11/17. After the order window has closed, all shirts will be delivered to Weems Creek Church for pick up.
Prayer for Revival
Prayer always precedes true revival. “I have heard … of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day” (Habakkuk 3:2). That is our prayer. We will spend an hour praying for revival for our church, community, and nation. Join us this Thursday, Nov. 14 at 11am in room 112.
Business Meeting
We will have a business meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 6pm in the worship center. We will vote in new members and review financial reports.
Christmas Decorating
Tracie Link will be leading the endeavor again this year. If you would like to help, join her on Sunday, Nov. 24 after the service. Many hands make light work! Please sign up at the Connect Center. Lunch will be provided.
Widow’s Walk Potluck
The Widow’s Walk group will be having a potluck lunch on Sunday, Nov. 10th after the service in room 111. Fried chicken and bottled water will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Sign up at the Connect Center, in the church app, or by using this link Widow's Walk Potluck Signup.
GriefShare
GriefShare is a biblically based, Christian grief recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. Our next session will begin Nov. 17 and meet Sunday afternoons from 3pm-4:15pm in room 106. B.J. Hallmark will be leading this group. Participants must register online at griefshare.org. Fee for materials and supplies is $20, payable to Weems Creek. If you need help with registering, please stop by the Connect Center or see B.J.
Blessings!
