Weekly Update, October 11th, 2024

Hi church,

We are looking forward to an exciting weekend! Tomorrow is the annual Harvest Fest from 1-3pm. Hope you will enjoy the festivities as well as pray that God will draw people from the community who need to know the hope of the gospel. On Sunday morning, we begin a 2-part sermon series on God and Government. Sunday evening at 6:30pm is a worship night where we focus on worship, prayer, and celebrate the baptism of Joyce Helveston.

Parenting Conference

We are so excited to host this two-day parenting conference at the end of the month! On Oct. 25-26, guest speaker, Amy Davison, of Mama Bear Apologetics will offer Biblical wisdom and practical steps to teaching kids how to think through and address issues head-on, yet with gentleness and respect. Please follow this link Parenting Conference with Mama Bear Apologetics to learn more about the conference and to register. You can also register in the church app. Registration is $10 per person. Invite your family and friends!

There are flyers at the Connect Center, please take a couple and invite friends, neighbors, family members. You may also share it with any groups you may be involved in.

Worship Night

Join us this Sunday evening, for a time of worship and corporate prayer. As part of church life and mission, we need to be praying together (Acts 2:42). We will meet in the multipurpose room at 6:30pm. Our focus will be salvation and our nation. We will also have a baptism.

ABA Annual Meeting

Our church is hosting the annual meeting for the Arundel Baptist Association on Sunday, October 27th. You are welcome to attend the fellowship dinner at 5pm and a revival service from 6-7:30pm. If you plan to attend the dinner and service, please let us know for planning purposes by October 20th. You can sign up at the Connect Center.

We also need a few volunteers to help serve and clean up the catered meal. If you available to help, please contact the church office (office@weemscreek.com / 410-266-5527) or sign up at the Connect Center. This is a great way to serve our local association!

SonShiners – Potluck Fellowship

SonShiners (55+), join us for lunch and a special presentation. The church will provide soups, desserts, and drinks. Please bring a side dish to share. Emma Sims, Pastor Bryan’s daughter, will also share (virtually) about an exciting missions opportunity that she will be involved in. You don’t want to miss it!

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

Can you believe it’s that time of year already? Last year, our church family filled 325 shoeboxes, and we hope to surpass that number this year! Pick up a shoebox in the atrium, fill it with fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, and return it by Nov. 10. This is a great way to bless children around the world and share the message of Jesus at the same time.

Weems Creek will be a national drop-off site again this year. National collection week is Nov. 18-24. In a few weeks we’ll be asking for volunteers to collect shoeboxes.

Sermon Outline

Many people have shared that they miss the sermon outline in the new worship guide. The sermon notes will now be available on each table near the worship center doors.

Weems Creek Apparel

Did you miss out on purchasing Weems Creek apparel in the spring? I have good news! We will share the link again in the next few weeks. They would make great Christmas gifts!

Blessings!

Pastor Bryan
