Weekly Update - May 12th, 2023
Hi church,
This Sunday we will enjoy a song from the Children's Choir, and I will wrap up the Wonders of Creation series. I wanted to mention a new emphasis that we are calling "Serve Teams." What is a Serve Team? Simply put, it is an area of ministry within our church. As a church, we desire that every member and regular attender participate on at least one Serve Team. By doing so, each person can use their time and spiritual gifting to strengthen the church. Likewise, as individuals we find the most joy and fulfillment as we put others ahead of ourselves. Most of all, we advance the kingdom of God and bring glory to God, the very purpose of our lives!
Each Serve Team will be spotlighted for an entire month of the year in the worship guide and other church media to inform about activities and to enlist support where needed. During their spotlight month, that Serve Team will give a brief update to the church during a Sunday service—activities, praises, and prayer requests. For the other 2 months, we will focus on national (March or April) and international missions (December). We plan to start the monthly spotlight in September. There will be more information in this week's worship guide and I will talk more about it on May 21st. Hope you enjoy a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
Summer Kick-off Fellowship
Sunday, May 21st immediately after the worship service behind the church. Two food trucks will be onsite and families are welcome to purchase lunch or bring a picnic to eat. We will be hosting our first annual cornhole tournament and are looking for teams of two to sign up! The church will also be providing drinks and an ice cream sundae bar for everyone to enjoy. (Note: We are having the Chevy's Fresh Mex truck and Truck of Deliciousness onsite for lunch. Entrees are ~ $8-$12 each).
Please sign up for the cornhole tournament at the Connect Center! Also, if you have a cornhole set we can borrow or if you want to help with the event, there is a signup for that too.
Free Items
There are many items that are no longer being used at church. They will be available in the atrium on Sunday. Please take whatever you want. There are Bibles, games, children’s books and DVDs, frames, balls, some furniture, and much, much more!
VBS Training Rally
For all volunteers! Saturday, May 20th from 9-11am. Breakfast and coffee will be provided! We will learn all about Twists & Turns VBS, go over important details for the week, distribute materials, and pray over VBS! Please plan to attend if at all possible. RSVP to Melissa Gardner at melissa@weemscreek.com
Prayer for Revival
Join us as we pray for Biblical renewal in churches and our nation on Monday, May 15 at noon in room 112.
SonShiners Tour & Lunch
The SonShiners (ages 55+) will be touring London Town including the William Brown House and Gardens on May 25. The tour is one hour and will begin promptly at 11am. We will be carpooling from the church, meeting at 10am. The cost is $12 payable to Weems Creek. We will be eating lunch at the IHOP in Edgewater afterward. If you are unable to attend the tour, we’d love for you to still join us for lunch at 12:30pm. Please sign up at the Connect Center.
Prayer Card
If there is something you would like the pastors to pray for, please fill out a prayer card located in the seat pockets. You give the card to a pastor or place it in the offering plate.
See you Sunday!
