Weekly Update - April 21st, 2023

Hi church,

Tomorrow is Earth Day as millions of people focus on our planet and protecting it. Our planet is indeed amazing as we look at its beauty and its provisions for us. Did you know that there is a lot more to the story about the uniqueness of Earth as the handiwork of God? This Sunday will be part 2 of the sermon series "Wonders of Creation."

There is a lot happening with our church -- a good thing! Please make sure to read over the update.

Vacation Bible School

VBS plans are under way! This will be a fun VBS with a game theme. We still need lead teachers for Pre-K 4, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade. Pray how God will use you to make this year’s VBS a success! Please see Melissa Gardner for more info or any questions. We will have classes for Pre-K 4 through 5th grade (and younger children of volunteers). Registration is open for children and volunteers at this link: Weems Creek VBS

Dad’s Night Off – NFL Draft Edition

This is a time for dads (with children from newborn to high school) to come together for food, fellowship and community. We can’t think of a better way than watching your favorite football franchise draft the player that will bring them to the Super Bowl (but probably not…)! Join us on Apr. 27 at 7:30pm in the multipurpose room. Sign up at the Connect Center.

Church Workday – April 29th, 9am-noon

Just as we must maintain our houses, the Lord’s house needs to be maintained too. We are looking forward to this great time of fellowship, getting to know each other better and getting some work done around the church. There are inside and outside tasks – from moving mulch and picking up sticks to cleaning out closet and dusting. There’s a job for everyone – young and old! We will end the workday with a burgers and hot dogs!

Women’s Tea

All ladies (from birth up) are invited to the Women’s Tea on May 6th from noon – 2pm. Join us for finger foods, fellowship and some tasty teas. Just for fun, please bring your own teacup or mug. Please register at this link Women's Tea Registration or use the QR code in the worship guide. You can also sign up at the Connect Center.

Greece Mission Trip Meeting

There will be a meeting for all who are planning to go to Greece and any who are still considering it. The deadline for the mission trip has been extended to June 1st. There are still several spots available. If you are interested, please plan to attend the meeting immediately after church on April 23 in the multipurpose room.

Men’s Breakfast

Join the men of Weems Creek for a fellowship breakfast on Saturday, May 6th at 7:30am at the Double T Diner in Annapolis. Bring your sons, grandsons, neighbors. Everyone will pay for their own meal. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20. Sign up at the Connect Center. We must have a head count to make the reservations.

Children’s Choir

The children will be practicing for a special Mother’s Day presentation during the worship hour on the opposite Sundays of Kids Worship.

Franklin Graham’s God Loves You Tidewater Tour

Franklin Graham will be coming to the area to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. He will be in LaPlata on 4/29 at 6:30pm and in Timonium at the State Fairgrounds on 4/30 at 4pm. If you are interested in carpooling to one of the events, please sign up at the Connect Center.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is the primary way Southern Baptists fund missions in North America. One hundred percent of gifts given to this offering go to the field to support more than 2,400 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada. The donations are used to train and resource missionaries in church planting and compassion ministries, as well as create evangelism resources. Our goal is $15,000. So far, we have collected $7,826.

See you Sunday!
