Weekly Update - March 3rd, 2023

Hi church,

Hope you are well. I enjoyed a wonderful vacation. I appreciate your prayers. It was quite a change to return. I left Texas and it was in the 70’s and returned to Connecticut in the 30’s and snow the next day! Ouch. This Sunday, I will start a new 3-week series “Growing in Prayer.” The Christian life always comes back to prayer, prayer, prayer. My hope is that the series will truly motivate and mobilize each of us to grow in prayer.

New Members Class

You are invited to join us for a New Members class next Sunday, 3/12 from 12:15pm-2:15pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the church—its beliefs, vision, and ministries—as well as interact with the church leadership and other prospective members. Also, you will be better equipped to connect with and serve our church as we seek to advance God’s kingdom in this community. There is no obligation to membership. Lunch and childcare and will be provided. If you plan to attend, please sign-up at the Connect Center.

Men’s Retreat

Men and high school boys, join us for the annual Men’s Retreat on March 17-18 at Camp Wabanna. This will be a great time of fellowship. It’s also a time of strengthening relationships and establishing new ones as we look at Titus 2:11-14 – Saved and committed to declare and display the Gospel. We will start with dinner on Friday night at 6pm and finish with lunch on Saturday. Cost is $55/person. You can sign up at the Connect Center or at this link: Men's Retreat Registration. You can pay when you register online, through the offering (checks made out to Weems Creek Church and noted for Men’s Retreat), or online at weemscreek.com/give.

Living a Healthy Life

There are two more classes. Join us on Tuesday nights for a 4-part series about Living a Healthy Life from a Romans 12 perspective, taught by Theresa Fallow, MSN, RN. We will meet from 6:30-7:30 pm on March 7 & 14. You will learn important health concepts like how to read food labels, how food impacts cardiometabolic disease (diabetes, high blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol) and your immune system, and we will talk about health strategies to improve health. This class will meet in room 102, next to the church office. Please enter the building near the office.

Women’s Retreat

Tonight! The Women’s Retreat planning committee has done a great job of planning the retreat. Cost is $55 per attendant. Sponsor scholarships are available. You can bring a check made out to Weems Creek Church and noted for Women’s Retreat or pay online at weemscreek.com/give. Please choose “Women’s Retreat” in the dropdown menu.

Kids Worship

Because the Deacon Ordination will be on the second Sunday in March, we will have Kids Worship this Sunday instead of next Sunday. We will then resume Kids Worship on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Easter is coming!

Be sure to update your calendars.

  • April 1 – Easter Egg Hunt

  • April 7 – Good Friday Service, 6:30pm

  • April 7 – Student Lock-in, 7pm-7am

  • April 9 – Easter Service, 11am

Coats in Cruisers

We will be collecting gently used winter coats for the Sheriff’s Department to hand out as needed. The biggest need is for men’s and women’s coats. All donations may be place in the designated area of the coat closet in the atrium.

New Testament Challenge

If you are participating in the New Testament Challenge, be sure to sign up at the Connect Center so that you will receive the related emails.

See you Sunday!

Pastor Bryan
