Weekly Update - October 6th, 2023

Hi church,

As part of our church's Serve Team initiative, we organized our different ministries into 10 teams. As a church, we desire that every member and regular attender participate on at least one Serve Team. By doing so, each person can use their time and spiritual gifting to strengthen the church. Likewise, as individuals we find the most joy and fulfillment as we put others ahead of ourselves. Most of all, we advance the kingdom of God and bring glory to God, the very purpose of our lives! Each Serve Team will be spotlighted for an entire month to inform about activities and to enlist support where needed. During their spotlight month, that Serve Team will update the church during Sunday services. For the other 2 months, we will focus on national (March or April) and international missions (December). This month our focus will be on the Worship team. I am so grateful for this ministry team and look forward to our spotlight this month!

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest is a week away! – October 14th from 12-2:30pm.

You can be part of this great outreach by volunteering to:

  • Stand at a carnival game station (games are provided), cheer on the children, and give them a prize/candy

  • Stand at a food station and pass out free food (hot dogs, chips, drink; hot cocoa & cider; popcorn)

  • Assist at the craft table

  • Supervise the bounce house

  • Make a pot of chili

  • Donate baked goods for the Cake Walk

  • Donate individually wrapped candy

  • And set up and/or tear down

It will be a fun, family-friendly event for all ages! This is free to the community so please invite your friends and neighbors! We will also have a petting zoo, tug of war, giant yard games, face painting, Navy Sprint football team, and mini-golf.

New Members Class

If you are interested in learning more about Weems Creek Church, please join us on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12:30pm for this informational meeting. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the church – its beliefs, vision, and ministries – as well as interact with the pastor and other prospective members. Lunch and childcare will be provided. If you plan to attend, please sign up at the Connect Center.

Veterans Day Video

We are updating our video tribute to the service men and women of our church. If you serve or have served in the military, please email a photo (in uniform, if possible) to Sandy McCarthy (sandygramms@gmail.com) by Sunday, Oct. 29th.

Prayer for Revival – new day and time!

If you would like to join in prayer asking God to bring a spiritual revival to our nation, join us Thursday, Oct. 12th @ 11am in room 112. This group will now be meeting on the second Thursday of each month (instead of the third Monday) and at 11am.

Knitting & Crafting

Bring your knitting or latest craft project and join in this great time of fellowship on Sept. 12, from 6:30-8pm in room 111. This group meets in person on the second Tuesday of the month. The other Tuesdays, they meet on Zoom. All ages are welcome!

Meals for the Martin Family

Rachel Martin is a member of WC and was diagnosed with ALS a year and a half ago. We have been providing meals every Tuesday. There are 6 people in the family and they have no dietary restrictions. Weems Creek Clothing Drive!

We will hold a free clothing drive on Saturday, Oct. 28th from 10am-12pm as an outreach to the community. We are collecting gently used clothes and shoes. Donated items can be placed on the stage in the multipurpose room and will be collected through Sunday, Oct. 22nd. If you are able to help sort and tag items or be here for the day of the event, please sign up at the Connect Center.
