Weekly Update, September 20th, 2024

Hi church,

Just a friendly reminder about our new LIFE Groups that we are launching next week! If you are interested in participating, see below for more information about them. We are offering 5 groups on 3 different nights. The groups will discuss either The Art of Marriage or The Real Heaven.

Discovering Weems Creek (New Members Class)

Are you interested in learning more about Weems Creek? Join us for this informational meeting this Sunday after the service in the multipurpose room. Pastor Bryan will share what we believe, our vision, and our ministries. There is no commitment to membership. Lunch and childcare will be provided (if needed). Please sign up in the Church Center app using this link: New Members Class or email the office (office@weemscreek.com).

MomCo (formerly MOPS)

Do you ever feel like your pilot light has gone out? Like the spark that once fueled your passion, clarity, and energy has been dimmed under the mental load of motherhood? That is about to change because we are declaring this the year of new things. A new season needs a new strategy, and we choose Wild, Contagious Hope. We will meet twice a month on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30am in the multipurpose room starting this coming Wednesday, 9/25. We will have breakfast, hot coffee & tea, devotions, guest speakers, activities, crafts, and lots of fellowship time! Childcare is available for infants through kindergarteners. You can register at weemscreek.com/momco or in the Church Center app!

Parenting Conference

Weems Creek Church will be hosting a parenting conference, Raising Warriors in Today’s Battlefield, October 25-26th with a guest speaker from the Mama Bear Apologetics team! Learn how to raise kids who think critically, love biblically, and stand firm against the cultural tide. In this two-day conference, guest speaker of Mama Bear Apologetics, Amy Davison, will offer Biblical wisdom and practical steps to teaching kids how to think through and address issues head-on, yet with gentleness and respect.

This conference is for anyone (moms, dads, grandparents, teachers, neighbors & friends) who are concerned about the culture our children are being raised in and how we can provide them the necessary defenses to face these challenges.

Please follow this link Parenting Conference with Mama Bear Apologetics to learn more about the conference and to register. You can also register in the church app. Registration is $10 per person and will be open to Weems Creek Church attendees until September 23rd and then we will open registration to our community!

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest is around the corner and we would love to make this church-wide event our biggest outreach yet! On Saturday, October 12th, we will host this free community event with carnival games, crafts, local sheriff and fire departments, a chili cookoff (Gil Vining is the reigning champion), cake walk, petting zoo, bounce house, hotdogs, popcorn, and MORE! We need LOTS of volunteers to make this event a success! Please sign up at the Connect Center or email melissa@weemscreek.com if you would like to make chili, donate a baked good, set-up/clean-up, run an activity station, or are willing to help during the event. Candy donations are also being accepted and there will be a bin in the atrium to collect donations beginning this Sunday!

Widow’s Walk Luncheon

The Widow’s Walk group will have a luncheon after church on Sept. 29 in room 111 (downstairs). Lunch will be provided. Please sign up at the Connect Center so we know how many to prepare for.

Cubbies Volunteer (ages 3-5 yrs.)

We have a great problem! We have over 80 children registered for Awana! That means we really need 1-2 more Cubbies leaders. We would hate to put children on a waitlist but we have too many children for just 2 leaders. Are you able to help? Please contact Melissa Gardner (melissa@weemscreek.com) or Ryan Bedell (awana@weemscreek.com).

LIFE Groups

We are excited to begin our small groups ministry that we are calling "LIFE Groups." These are small group settings where you can grow deeper in your faith and also in your friendships with others. They are casual discussion groups relating to a given topic of study.

All groups meet weekly. They will begin the week of September 22nd and will meet 6 times. We will start a second round of 6-week LIFE Groups the week of November 3rd. People are free to try different groups. Ideally, we hope to develop group continuity over time while allowing for new people to join the groups. If you are interested in participating in a LIFE group, please sign up at the Connect Center or the Church Center app. You may also access all or our registrations using this link: weemscreek.churchcenter.com/registrations Hope you join in!

Blessings!

Pastor Bryan
