Weekly Update, August 23rd, 2024

Hi church,

This Sunday I will finish the second part of the sermon series on True Unity. God has spiritually united us in Christ but he wants us to display that unity tangibly. Make sure to be here to soak in God's word. Also, this Sunday Matt Goodsell from Capitol Ministries will present during the service. After the service, Matt and I will share specifically about the opportunity in Maryland in the worship center. To make this ministry happen, the church will need to pray and support in various ways!

Baptism Next Steps

If you are interested in following through with baptism, Pastor Bryan will be available in the multipurpose room on Sept. 1 after the service. He will go over the basics of baptism and practical questions about next steps.

Ladies Tea

The WCC annual Ladies Tea is Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11am-1pm. Join us for a scrumptious brunch, delicious beverages, fun fellowship, and a chance to hear Angela Sims’ testimony and get to know her better. This event is always a memorable time! Please sign up in the Church Center app, using this link Ladies Tea Registration, or at the Connect Center.

AWANA Registration is Open

AWANA is an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. Children will be discipled to learn what it means to live their lives in a way that allows them to present themselves as workmen who are not ashamed but endorsed by God to do His work. They will learn the skills that allow them to rightly handle the “word of truth” as they memorize Scripture and engage in meaningful, age-appropriate Bible lessons. AWANA is for children 3 yrs. old – 5th grade. Spaces is limited so please register soon using this link Awana Registration or visit our website at www.weemscreek.com/awana.

Wednesday Night Activities resume Sept. 11

We are looking forward to Wednesday night activities resuming on Sept. 11! Awana and Adult Bible Studies will meet from 6:30-8pm. The youth will continue to meet from 6pm-8pm.

The Men’s Class will be studying the book of James, led by Clarence Klakring.

In the Mixed Adult Class, Pastor Bryan will be leading a class called “Deeper Discipleship.” Are you wanting to truly grow as a Christian? It is crucial to develop spiritual disciplines of prayer and Bible reading. This class will discuss these disciplines and implement them by reading through the Gospel of Luke and Romans. Also, we will read a short book about essential Christian beliefs. Let’s go to the next level of discipleship! Cost of the book is $10, but don’t let that stop you!

The women will be working through the book Meeting the Spirit by Douglas Connelly. Who is the Holy Spirit? How does he change our lives? How does he work in the world? The Spirit of God is eager to work in your life and draw you to God. If you are unable to attend on Wednesday nights, this study will also be offered on Tuesday mornings (beginning 9/10) from 10am-11:30am and Saturday mornings (beginning 9/14) from 9:30am-11am. The cost of the book is $10, but not mandatory. Please sign up in the Church Center app or at the Connect Center.
