Weekly Update - September 1st, 2023
Hi church,
Just a reminder that we are going to have a day of prayer and fasting on Tuesday, September 5th. We will gather for prayer from 7-8pm in the multipurpose room. As always, if you have any medical concerns at all, please consult your physician. We will focus on 3 main areas for church-wide prayer: the Greece mission trip, the search for a new Associate Pastor, and the launch of the fall ministries (see below). We want to pray for God to work in our church and our community. Though we will focus on these 3 areas, we want to pray for each other so please feel free to mention personal concerns when we gather.
This Sunday, we conclude our series on “God, Sexuality, and Gender.” If parents are uncomfortable with their children listening to the sermon, we will offer childcare in the multipurpose room for children in kindergarten through 6th grade after our time of worship through song.
As a follow up to the series, we will have a workshop on Sunday, September 3rd from 6-8pm. Pastor Alex will cover the topics "Wisdom for Parents and Youth in our Culture" and I will cover the topic "God’s Glorious Design of Men and Women." If you have any questions that you want answered about these challenging issues, we will try to cover them during the workshop. You can submit the questions at the Connect Center or email myself (bryan@weemscreek.com) or Alex (alex@weemscreek.com).
Fall Activities Starting in 2 Weeks
All Wednesday night activities will begin on Sept. 20.

Students, 6-8pm – 6th through 12th grade
Parenting Class, 6:30-8pm – using the book Parenting Essentials by Andreas & Margaret Köstenberger
Men’s Bible Study, 6:30-8pm – studying the book of Ephesians
Women’s Bible Study, 6:30-8pm – Take Courage study by Jennifer Rothschild
Childcare provided for parents attending adult classes, 6:30-8pm – infants through 2 years
Women’s Bible study will be available on three different days! The book, Take Courage by Jennifer Rothschild, is a study of the Old Testament book of Haggai where we will learn to walk confidently and stay motivated, even when we face opposition. Sometimes our lives feel wrecked, with our hope and purpose in shambles. We can get distracted and discouraged. However, God’s presence and His promises give us courage to press on. We can “Take Courage” and trust God every day of our lives. This 7-week class will meet:
Tuesdays, beginning 9/19, from 10-11:30am in the multipurpose room, led by Chris Vaughan
Wednesdays, beginning 9/20 from 6:30-8pm in room 111, led by Sarina Lynham
Saturdays, beginning 9/23 from 9:30-11am in room 111, led by Lori Sefton
Please sign up in the Church Center app or at the Connect Center for the Women’s Bible Studies and the Parenting Class.

Annual Church Picnic
Join us for our annual church picnic on Sunday, Sept. 17th at 12:30pm. Bring a blanket or chair and a dish or two to share! The church will provide all paper products and drinks. We’ll have a bounce house for the kids and outdoor games for everyone. We need volunteers to help set up, break down and man the bounce house for 30-minute time slots. If you can help, please sign up at the Connect Center.
See you Sunday!
