Weekly Update - June 30th, 2023

Hi church,

I enjoyed a nice week of vacation and look forward to seeing you on Sunday. I will wrap up the sermon series on the book of Jonah. I hope you have been blessed by the series so far. For a short book, it covers a lot and in a memorable fashion! This week is no different even though the last chapter often gets overlooked with the other parts of the story like the whale and the repentance of Nineveh.

New Members Class

If you are interested in learning more about Weems Creek Church, please join us on Sunday, July 16 at 12:30pm for this informational meeting. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the church – its beliefs, vision, and ministries – as well as interact with the pastor and other prospective members. Also, you will be better equipped to connect with and serve our church as we seek to advance God’s kingdom in this community. Lunch and childcare will be provided. If you plan to attend, please sign up at the Connect Center.

VBS Snacks & T-shirt Sales

Yummy snacks are part of the fun of VBS! You can play along by signing up to bring ingredients. Our snack team will create some incredible game-themed snacks. The signup sheet is located in the atrium near the stairs. We will also begin selling t-shirts this Sunday, after the service. We can accept cash, check or credit card.

Meet & Greet Fellowship

Please join us in the atrium after the worship service for a brief meet and greet event (approx. 15-30 mins.) on Sunday, July 16. This will be a great opportunity for you to meet others in our church family you don’t know. We’ll have light snacks & drinks and are excited to bring our church family together!

HeartSong Counseling

We’re excited to announce a partnership with HeartSong Counseling, a biblical counseling ministry that can provide in-person and virtual services. HeartSong will be here on Sunday, July 9th to present during the Sunday School hour and will be available after the service. For more information, check out their website – www.heartsongcounseling.org.

Knitting & Crafting

July 11 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited – men, women, youth, children! Bring your knitting or latest craft project. It’s a great time of fellowship! Knitting instructions and materials are available for anyone wanting to learn how to knit. This group meets in person on the second Tuesday every month in room 111 and on Zoom the other Tuesdays.

Greece Mission

Our church will send 9 people to Greece this September 7-16 to minister to hurting communities in Athens by serving local churches and other organizations in need of assistance. Projects may include light construction, painting, landscaping, hosting sport activities, distributing meals or helping pack bags of supplies. With help from our denominational entity known as Send Relief, we will partner with Greek Baptist churches and other ministries. We will minister to Greek nationals as well as international refugees since Greece is a major hub. Though Greece was the first European nation to hear the gospel, now less than 3% regularly attends church and less than .5% of its population is evangelical. Please pray for the preparation of our team and for our ministry impact. We will provide more details in the future as we learn them. If you would like to contribute financially to the team’s travel expenses, you can donate to “Weems Creek Church” and designate it “Greek Mission 2023.”

VBS Registration

VBS registration is open! Please register your child(ren) today as there are limited spots available. VBS is July 23-27 from 6-8:30 p.m. Classes are open to children who have finished Pre-K 4 through 5th grade. The theme this year is Twists & Turns. Spin the spinner, beat the clock, skip ahead, level up, and play to win! You’ll need to bring your A-game for this VBS. Twists & Turns is a fantastical celebration of games of all kinds. From classic tabletop games to video games and more, kids will play their way through VBS while learning that Jesus guides them through all the twists and turns of their lives. They’ll find that even when they mess up it’s never “game over.”

See you Sunday!

Pastor Bryan
